Job Description:

As a Transaction Support Associate Director, you'll participate in and lead due diligence engagements related to transactions involving private equity investor groups and strategic corporate buyers. You'll analyse financial and operational results of companies targeted for sale by reviewing accounting records and leading interviews with management teams and internal teams, across service lines. A key part of your role will be to manage engagement economics and communicate significant issues, fees and estimates to-complete to partners and clients and to assist partners in generating new business opportunities and building client networks and relationships. As a role model for Quality & Risk Management (Q&RM), you'll make sure that project teams understand and comply with our Q&RM guidelines. And as a respected professional, you'll build, manage and motivate high-performing teams and help key staff to build sustainable competencies.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate historical and pro-forma financial information and identify trends and fluctuations that may impact cash flow requirements and deal valuation
  • Identify issues for purchase price reductions, deal structuring, or deal termination and communicate advice to clients
  • Identify post-acquisition action steps to achieve anticipated earnings and cash flow improvements
  • Research and assess technical accounting issues and evaluate implications on transaction valuation and structuring
  • Plan, prepare and review high quality deliverables in various forms including written reports, presentations and discussions with clients, teams and other parties
  • Can similarly deal with divestments and carve out scenarios
  • Understand business’ service offerings and actively identify opportunities to serve clients better and to enhance post due diligence follow-on services
  • Help people to develop through effectively supervising, coaching, counselling and mentoring all levels of staff
  • Conduct performance reviews and contribute to feedback for all levels of staff
  • Contribute to people initiatives, including recruiting, retaining and training Transaction Support professionals
  • Maintain an educational program to develop personal skills on an ongoing basis
  • Understand, follow and communicate workplace policies and procedures to all levels of staff
  • Build strong internal relationships with members of the Transaction Support team and other service departments

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Strong academic record
  • Professional accountancy qualification
  • CA (SA) is required
  • Due Diligence experience with at least 6-7 years post article experience at a Large or Medium Firm
  • Thorough knowledge of the transaction environment
  • Understanding of purchase accounting and transaction structures
  • Knowledge of IFRS
  • Understanding of Quality & Risk Management (Q&RM) procedures
  • Additional skills requirements
