Job Description:

This role focuses on leading; providing strategic direction; and guiding all financial functions of the Group.


  • To lead, coordinate and provide strategic direction to the Groups financial functions which include implementation of reporting standards, financial performance, procurement, budget, taxation, external audit matters, oversight of management and ensure alignment with the Group’s policies, procedures and best practice
  • To oversee operations across the Group that involve services rendered by the Financial Services Department (FSD) to departments and the Group
  • To oversee the budget process for the Group and ensure approval by the Board
  • To ensure that governance, risk and compliance systems related to financial systems are in place across entities of the Group
  • To manage strategic relations with significant stakeholders both within and external to the organisation
  • To participate as a member of the various internal committees of the Group
  • To provide oversight and participate on various boards and committees (experience in boards is a key requirement)
  • To participate in the Financial Reporting Standards Council (FRSC) as representative of the Group
  • To liaise with external and internal auditors, and Audit committee chair to ensure integrity of financial reporting
  • To drive process efficiency across various finance and business processes and structures
  • To be responsible for full statutory reporting and management reporting (essential experience needed)
  • To direct human resource activities, including approval of human resource plans or activities, the selection of staff and ensure appropriate organisation structure that is aligned to processes, strategy and culture, and manage the development of direct reports
  • To create a performance culture in the department, define performance expectations, including specific measurable metrics, and conduct effective performance management of direct reports
  • To monitor and evaluate the achievement of the department goals against the operational plan and communicate the department’s performance and achievements to the COO
  • To take accountability for talent management in the department by identifying appropriate talent in key positions, on-boarding, succession management and retention of key talent


Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) SA;
  • Minimum of 12+ years in leading accounts and finance teams; and
  • Experience in various boards and committees
