Job Description:


The Senior Data Governance & Privacy Analyst is a role within the Information Security team that is responsible for the organization’s end-to-end data needs. The Senior Data Governance & Privacy Analyst is key to ensuring data governance, data management and data privacy are achieved throughout the organization, laying the foundation for quality data to be provided to key stakeholders for regulatory and business reporting and insights. The incumbent will work closely with the rest of the Information Security, Information Technology, Compliance, and our Legal team, bringing together a single data management framework that supports the operations and governance aspects of organization. The senior data governance & privacy analyst will also be appointed as the deputy Data Protection Officer for the organization and be accountable for all matters relating to a Data Protection Officer.


 


Responsibilities:


  • Drive results on high profile strategic projects that require support in areas such as data migration, document/ contract management and data quality
  • Manage and embed Data Quality projects/ initiatives that will deliver tangible data quality improvement through root cause analysis, data cleansing etc.
  • Support the definition of a governance framework and chair or administrate appropriate forum
  • To establish and embed formal Data Governance processes within our existing and future strategic projects
  • To identify areas of opportunity with regards to data quality, and lead initiatives to resolve long-standing quality issues
  • Provide expert consultative guidance in areas such as (but not limited to) data migration, document management, records management data quality and integrity
  • To help build a robust data governance framework to drive a demonstrable improvement in data quality across all in-scope data
  • Ensure that the organization processes the personal data of its staff, customers, providers, or any other individuals in compliance with the applicable data protection rules
  • Provide advice and recommendations to the organization about the interpretation or application of the data protection rules
  • Handle queries or complaints on request by the institution, the controller, other person(s), or on own initiative
  • Work collaboratively with all employees, shareholders, and the supplier eco system to establish and drive best Data Quality practice
  • Work collaboratively with all business unit to ensure data classification and labelling policy are being embedded in their day-to-day activities
  • Ensure data protection compliance within her institution and help the latter to be accountable in this respect
  • Maintain the register of processing operations within the institution
  • Own the approach to establishing formal Data Governance processes across in-scope projects
  • Develop education tools and documentation to support our stakeholders
  • Support the delivery of the Data Management communications plan to help establish a cultural change in how data is perceived and managed at the organization
  • Instill and act with accordance to the organizations vision, mission and values and deliver actions that positively contribute to the company’s culture
  • Comply with all statutory regulations
  • Ensure timeliness and quality of reporting, both on departmental report level, as well as reports to regulators and other internal and external stakeholders
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Undertake any other duties, accountabilities and responsibilities as may be required


 


Requirements:


  • A wide variety of degrees will be considered but a typical candidate may have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant domain such as Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Informatics, or related technical field However, work experience will be of equal, if not greater, importance
  • At least 5-8 years of experience- in a similar role
  • Knowledge of one or more Data Governance or Data Quality tools (e.g., Informatica, Erwin, Collibra, EDQ etc.)
  • Recognized Data Management qualification (e.g., DAMA)
  • Understanding of financial and accountancy terminology
  • Experience in embedding data governance framework, processes and standard
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and to derive workable actions
  • Ability to constructively challenge requirements and current state to increase overall value to the organization
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (Ability to communicate findings to all levels within the bank)

  • A good understanding of relevant statutory frameworks applying to data governance such as the (e.g., Data Protection Act, GDPR)
  • Experience in managing Data Protection Issues and Data Breaches
  • Specialist knowledge of data governance principles and practices
  • Experience in delivering data quality initiatives that have provided tangible efficiencies or business value
  • Varied and detailed knowledge of one or more Data Management areas such as Data Quality, Data Migration, Document Management etc.
  • Understanding of Master Data Management technology landscape, processes, and design principles
  • Experience in the use of data catalogues, data quality technologies and data loss prevention tools
  • Experience embedding Data Governance processes and standards into existing and future strategic projects
  • Extensive knowledge of quality management systems, methodologies, and principles
